About Me

I can remember pricking out seedlings for my grandad and he paid me 3 old pennies a tray so I guess you can say I have been gardening for over 40 years.

  • Science based degree at Manchester university.

  • Pershore College of Horticulture HND in garden design

  • Level 2 and 3 RHS (pass with commendation) qualifications.

  • City and Guilds Level 4 Teaching qualifications.

Work Experience

  • Self employed gardener, garden designer / landscaper / project manager and have always had a good sized garden in which I can play and test out new ideas and theories.

  • I have worked for Groundwork travelling all over Greater Manchester training young people studying for horticulture qualifications and facilitating community groups to ‘grow their own.’

  • For 7 years I worked for the RHS as the North West community outreach advisor and schools advisor.

  • I still work for the RHS, delivering training programmes for teachers and giving talks at RHS Tatton Flower Show as well as teaching 3 RHS level 2 classes.

  • I love teaching others and opening non-believers’ eyes to the joys of gardening. I have worked at Cheadle College for over 10 years teaching various qualifications and leisure courses to adult learners. Together we have been through many learning journeys so I understand which topics within the RHS level 2 syllabus are challenging.
